Speakers Confirmed for the 1st Public-Private Forum on Beyond SDGs Kickoff Forum!

Held in Osaka to shape proposals from Japan toward international visions beyond 2030
With five years remaining until the 2030 SDG deadline, the United Nations will begin full-scale discussions toward international visions beyond 2030 starting in 2027. In response to this movement, diverse stakeholders across Japan have joined forces to establish the “Public Private Forum on Beyond SDGs”—a platform for dialogue to synthesize practice-rooted recommendations.
Ten years have passed since the adoption of the SDGs in 2015. While progress is visible across many initiatives, unresolved challenges have also come to light. This accumulation of “achievements” and “challenges” serves as the starting point toward Beyond SDGs.
As the first step, a kick-off forum will be held at Umeda Sky Building in Osaka on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Panel Discussion 1 will share concrete initiatives from the perspectives of government, business, civil society, and youth. Panel Discussion 2 will explore essential elements for Beyond SDGs from the viewpoints of well-being, governance, and science.
The speakers have been finalized, and leaders from various sectors will share their visions for “Beyond SDGs.” We warmly invite as many people as possible to participate and hope this forum serves as a venue to take the next step into the future together.
